I want to be an artist and I need to work to get there.  What medium, you may be wondering.  Photography, ceramics, painting - I just can't narrow it down because I love it all.  So there.  I need to invest the time and the patience and the practice to make my dream happen.

Tonight we picked up The Twits by Roald Dahl to read to the girls before bedtime, and it had us all cracking up.  Seriously.  Have you read it?  If not and you're in the mood for a little chuckle, pick it up. Kids or no kids, it's a great book (well, at least the first 20 pages are great - that's all we've read so far!).

This is a good one for me because I want to inspire others to be creative and to have fun with their kids, but I need to remember to do those things myself.  All too often I know I drain my family and friends with my constant worrying and anxiety, so I need to watch that and try to live in the present and enjoy it all.  I want to inspire, not drain, gosh darn it.  Working towards being a better person...

Welcome to another Wednesday's Words everyone!  Hope you had a good day and are starting to get excited for the weekend which is just two short days away.  Did you have a crazy storm this afternoon?  We did, but it brought out the most incredible double rainbow I have ever seen.  It was pretty amazing.

Anyway, now onto today's words for thought:

This ties in nicely with what I've been thinking about recently, ever since I read the New York Times article that I mentioned here.  Then to have a terrible afternoon thunderstorm keep us inside, only to find such an intense and perfect rainbow(s) - well, it seemed to fit with me trying to live life more positively.

So true!  Tonight I felt like a super heroine as I scooped up my girls and carried them to the car while the torrential rain dumped on us.  It interrupted our fireworks viewing, but it was fun and wild and quite an experience.

Kitchen Inspiration

Would you just look at this:

I first saw this on Simply Grove (or was it Sacramento Street?), and I am completely smitten!  I love the modern and sleek cabinets, countertop, and oven topped off with one level of open shelving that appears to go on forever.  And then the juxtaposition of the worn wooden table and dark chairs - love it!

This is a case for me to only purchase white dishes from now on.  But where's the fun in that...
