Gummy Bears

I saw this last night when I was browsing through the latest Uncommon Goods catalogue:

These are a little different and I like them more (better true-to-candy gummy bear shape), but they are $125 each here ($500 for a set of five, if you are so inclined).

Who knew there are so many choices when it comes to gummy bear lights?

New Find: Eboniste!

I have to give a little shout out to my mom for today's post because she brought Eboniste to my attention. Eboniste is a manufacture and retail group based in the U.S. that carries seating, tables, lighting, and accessories.

I am especially fond of the Jacqui collection of tables designed by Bungalow 5, including the coffee table (below):



I adore the yellow (and green and orange), but if you need something less flashy or bright, it also comes in black, brown, white, and a deep cherry red. It measures 40" wide x 22" deep x 16" high, and it costs $595 (not too terrible for such a great-looking coffee table...).

Perch! Lighting

Perch! is a Brooklyn-based store and all of their products are made in Brooklyn and are environmentally-friendly. I love their Zooey Mini Chandelier:



It comes in 7 colors


and each of the 4 ceramic balls is 4" in diameter. Each piece is made to order and costs $480 (I know, not exactly a bargain!).

Lighting

Habitat has an incredible chandelier, called the Akiko, for sale:

At 399 euros it is certainly expensive, but I'm sure some crafy diy-er could come up with some way to use ping pong balls and create a much less expensive knock-off. If only I were that handy...

New Pottery Barn Catalog

I normally throw the Pottery Barn catalog in the recycling bin before I have a chance to look through it because their cookie-cutter traditional pieces don't do it for me. The cover of the catalog I received today, however, caught my eye with it's fresh colors and interesting lines. Here are my favorite pieces:

Architect's Task Floor Lamp ($229). I love the scale!



Bridget Rug ($99 - $599 depending on size). Love the colors and the bold, graphic floral pattern!



Indigo Pillow Covers ($25 - $39 depending on size). Blue and white is a crowd favorite color combo. These pillows could be used easily anywhere in a blue and white room.



Manchester Pendant ($199 - $249). I adore polished nickel, and I think that the small scale with an industrial feel is a fun juxtaposition.



Milk Glass Lamp ($90). Fun curves in great colors!

Light Fixture for $20

I have strayed from showing you affordable design, so here is something to remedy that:



This is the Eclipse Pendant Lamp from CB2, and it costs a mere $19.95! It is fairly small (only 9.5" diameter x 7" H), so you may want to use a few of them over a kitchen island or cluster an odd number of them together for a more substantial light fixture. It comes in two beautiful and sleek finishes - gloss white and silver matte. With this hanging in the right spot, no one could guess that it was less than $20.

Lamps

I am picky about lamps. I don't know why, but I am. I feel like I'm always searching for something interesting and unique but not too funky. That's where the Spindle Lamp Base comes in:



I absolutely adore the kelly green color and the beautiful silhouette of this lamp, but for the faint of heart, it does also come in white. For $36 what more could you want?

The shade shown with this lamp is a bit much for me, but imagine how great it would look with a white high gloss drum shade? By the way, any lighting or shade store can probably get you whatever kind of shade you want, but one place I really like is Fogg Lighting in Portland, Maine. Their prices are much better than here in NYC, and they are incredibly helpful. (In the spirit of full disclosure, Fogg Lighting is owned by a relative, but everything I said is true! They really are wonderful, they have been in the shade business for years, and their prices are fantastic. Give them a try!)

Oh, and one more lamp I love for a child's room is the Wise Owl Base:



This is an incredible steal at only $24, and yet again, I am not too keen on the shade that it is shown with. Chose a shade color to match your child's room/nursery, and you'll be all set. (Again, those lovely people at Fogg Lighting can help you!) The lamp base is very Jonathan Adler-esque whose happy chic theory on design I love.

Spooky Chandelier

I think I have Halloween on the brain because I am magnetically drawn to this Zeppelin S1 chandelier by Flos:



Here I go again, but this is yet another example of a creative merging of traditional and contemporary design. It appears as if a very busy spider has created quite a web around a traditional metal chandelier, and the result is a light fixture that I am eager to touch. I have not seen it when the light is on (there is only 1 light bulb and I expect it is in the center), but I imagine the light to be softly diffused around the space it is in. Imagine it with a red or blue light bulb? The possibilities are endless with a show-stopper like this.
