Modern Bedding on Sale at West Elm

I'm searching for some new bedding, and in my searches I came across the Octagon Jacquard Duvet Cover and Shams from West Elm:

A set of 2 shams is only $9.99 and the comforter is $103 - $127, depending on the size. That's a pretty good deal for such cool bedding. I absolutely love the bright, bold, graphic pattern. It's very Jonathan Adler-esque, and waking up in that bed would make me very happy. Sadly, the color does not go with our room so I have to find something more subdued. But I can imagine a lovely bedroom (in a house near the beach perhaps?) with a fun orange and white theme (I'm not wild about the bedding with the dark wood headboard shown above; a glossy white bed frame would be better, in my opinion) that would keep a smile on your face.

Sale Time!

So yesterday's Splurge was really quite expensive, so I thought today I'd look for some sale items to post.

These Sorbet Votives from Wisteria are 4 for $12 - that's just $3 each! (Yes, I am married to a math teacher, so I have to whip out my crazy math skills whenever I can...just kidding!)

I love the fresh, vibrant colors, and not only are they votives, but they can also be used as vases (see photo) or drinking glasses. Know someone who loves to set a nice table? This could be a perfect (and inexpensive) gift! The set of 4 would also be a lovely hostess gift for a dinner party or weekend stay.

Also from Wisteria, this Provencal Country Mirror is only $89!

Now, you know me - my taste is modern, but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate traditional pieces. I love painted furniture, and this mirror is no exception. The soft blue leaves and the antiqued finish make for a very charming and romantic piece. The downside to this mirror is that while it is only $89, the shipping is $50.

Now, back to my modern taste. The Parachute Dining Table from CB2 is on sale for $199.

This table will seat 2 or 4 easily, but more than that and you'd better look for a different dining table. I love the high-gloss white top and the criss-crossing lines of the metal base - both nice modern touches.

This one isn't on sale, but at only $18 it is inexpensive enough to be included here. The Parasol Flower Lampshade from Urban Outfitters caught my eye right away when I was searching for some good deals.

The turquoise is clean and crisp, and the allover parasol pattern is very graphic and somewhat Asian inspired (think Japanese woodblock print). I wish I had a lamp that needed a lampshade...

Victoria Hagan at Target

Victoria Hagan
is one of today's preeminent interior designers, and her projects have been published in every design magazine you could imagine. Her services are not cheap, I imagine, but her pieces at Target are! Take a look:

Chatham Table in Cream (on clearance for $39.99; 17"H x 36"W x 21.85"D; sorry, it doesn't look great presented in white on white)

Arianna Silk Accent Pillow in Blue ($19.99; I would love to see this '70s inspired throw pillow on a velvet chocolate brown sofa!)

Chloe Mirror (on clearance for $20.99; 11" diameter; I love the play on circles)

Light Fixture for $20

I have strayed from showing you affordable design, so here is something to remedy that:

This is the Eclipse Pendant Lamp from CB2, and it costs a mere $19.95! It is fairly small (only 9.5" diameter x 7" H), so you may want to use a few of them over a kitchen island or cluster an odd number of them together for a more substantial light fixture. It comes in two beautiful and sleek finishes - gloss white and silver matte. With this hanging in the right spot, no one could guess that it was less than $20.

Pop Quiz

Question: What can you get for $69.99?

Answer:

These tables are now on sale, and I could not let them slip by without telling you about them. They have a simple, modern cube design in a soothing shade of blue and green (although I think the blue is no longer available). At 18" square, these tables can be used anywhere - as a bedside table, an occasional table, a coffee table (use two or four). Use your imagination. Hey, they're only $70.

Sale Item

I saw this table on CB2 and it is now on sale for $149 - not a bad deal! It is a fun take on the translucent side table with a little added flare.
